Babar Bascule
• wooden rocker
• age +24 months
• imported from France

I have always loved Babar ever since I was little. I loved it from the time my mum bought me little figurines in the same style as the smurf ones, when she came back from France. I think I was about 6 or 7. The story of Babar is really quite horrific - Babar flees the jungle after he witnesses his mother being slain.

When I was in Paris in my 20s I bought the 'Babar en avion' poster and soft toy. I framed the poster for my son Mackenzie a couple of years later when he was born. The poster is still up in his room and Tallulah still takes Babar to sleep occasionally and I find her asleep with Babar's jacket on.

This Babar rocker is made of wood and is appropriate for children +24 months. Unique to Papier d'Amour and imported from France it is a fantastic godmother or grandma gift. We have one in our store in Double Bay for children to play on and it is loved by all.

The Babar rocker comes flat packed but is very simple to assemble. If you would like to visit our store in Double Bay we can supply it to you assembled.

Size 90cm length and 57cm high

Black soft guitar
When I was a little girl I so wanted to be a rock star, not a ballerina - a rock star. I had very little musical talent. I could play chopsticks on the piano and lost my violin in first class so it wasn't really my calling. I used to ask my mum to organise singing lessons but she would just laugh it off.

So I could have been the next Kylie Minogue, but instead I became a graphic designer of event stationery and store owner and mother of three..

My point being that I would have loved this guitar to do concerts for my family when I was little.

• length 60cm

Cardboard castle
• recycled cardboard
• white exterior and illustrated linework interior
• 134cm tall and 1m surface area of base
• easily constructed and dismantled

When my daughter Tallulah opens a present she spends 60 seconds looking at the present and 3 hours playing with the box that the present comes in. So when she saw this her eyes popped out of her head. She was so excited and it has supplied her with hours and hours of entertainment.

Princesses kiss frogs, tea parties with the queen and interior decorating are just a few of the things that go on in that castle. The kids can spend hours decorating the castle inside and out.

The children staret by constructing their own cardboard creation, colour it themselves and then let their imagination run wild with creative play.

Easy sew bunny kit
Most of the things I buy for the shop are things that I love or would have loved for myself when I was a little girl. Don't be mistaken I was a real adventurer and had lots of accidents when I was little. Mum dreaded every time the school rang, because it was often a call to say meet us at the hospital. I broke arms, legs and had lots of stitches. I was even run over by a car.

So keeping this in mind I had alot of downtime in the recovery process and sewing was something I loved. I did lots of cross stitch and tapestry.

I would have loved this super cute kit that contains everything needed to make a 30cm high bunny, including felt, wool, plastic needle and clear instructions.

It also contains 'My Bunny's Adventure' journal and a pencil for the children to record their thoughts or write a story about their bunny. All in a tin.

Tallulah our 8 year old daughter has nearly finished hers - unfortunately she got goo (I think it was out of an Easter show bag) on the back of the head, so she is sewing a patch over it. Just have the ears to go now...

Even though I was a saver when I was little, I don't think my brother was. But he did always like things that were dark green and navy blue. I used to wonder why he liked surrounding himself in boy colours and why did his room always look so more grown up than mine.

So when I was choosing money boxes for the store I couldn't go past this green flocked gnome money box - you always need a boy version. It is really hard to buy gifts for boys when they hit a certain age. I know my brother Christian, would have really like this - I can imagine it in his room now. This is a great present for boys and girls, big and small. I think I might give this to Christian for his 41st birthday this year.

Pink bunny money box
I was always a saver when I was little. I was always hounding my mum for things to do that I could get paid for. Some of things I used to try and get her to pay me for was washing the car and collecting the eggs from the chicken pen - yes we had chickens in the middle of our garden in the city. It wasn't a great job as you often stepped on lots of yucky stuff and then you had to clean the eggs and write the date on them so Dad knew which ones were the freshest. My favourite way of making money was wrapping presents at christmas time. I used to get 50 cents a present and mum used to give lots of presents. I think the milkman even got a present.

So when I saw this divine flocked bunny I knew this was going to help lots of children save money, because how could you resist putting money in this. This pink flocked bunny money box is sitting but standing bunnies are also available.

nyokki
When I was little I could never really appreciate presents that didn't give me instant gratification. I have always been an impatient person. This obviously was has improved since I have had my three children.

Tallulah (she is our store guniea pig) loved the Nyokki. So did Lochie, Susie's (our grahic designer) nephew. They just need a little bit of water everyday and they grow this amazing hair. Tallulah put the Nyokki's hair in pigtails and the photo of Lochie and his Nyokki is so cute. He just looks so proud of his achievement. They are clearly a lot more patient than me.

Nyokki are handmade in Japan from glazed ceramic, shaped like an egg with fabric legs. Filled with a growing medium and rye grass seed, Nyokki are truly easy to grow - Our Nyokkis started sprouting hair in a couple of days and it grew to full height in less than two weeks.

"Nyokki" is a Japanese onomatopeia that mimics the sound of a plant growing! It is pronounced "n-yoo-key". I personally have never heard a plant grow.
